This emblem was the first kind of hood crest to be used by Porsche on
the 911 and the 912. The red stripes on the crest have a slight orange tint.
The palms and the horse on the Stuttgart coat of arms are accented in black.
From 1974 the successor to this emblem was hood crest reference 911.080160, which remained Porsche’s
official hood crest up to 1994. This last hood crest has painted red stripes
that were somewhat brighter and redder in hue than the stripes on the original
crest.
